I am a women in my mid fifties and Menoandme is a blog about how the exercise and gym workouts that I have followed for years are no longer working.

All though my body is generally in reasonable shape I now have all this weight around my stomach, seriously I look pregnant.  It's like all the Prosecco,wine chocs etc I have consumed over the years have come back to haunt me.

I have tried sit ups and workouts and diet but nothing seems to work to shift it.

I then had an epiphany maybe I was doing everything wrong, so I started to google weight loss and the menopause.  The advise was extremely confusing with different people saying different things many totally conflicting.  However the general consensus was that with hormones decreasing your body starts to work differently and you need to eat and exercise differently.

Well that is the first I had heard of this and the thing is I don't think that anyone else has either, when do you ever see classes at the gym tailored for menopausal women the answer is you don't.  I have also never seen a menopause diet either.  Apparently how we convert food into suga,r fat and muscle changes so we are prone to sugar cravings and feeling hungry more so than when premenopausal. This in itself was a surprise I have never craved sugary food before but now I do, its something to do with insulin (I need to look further into this).

So anyhow this is my journey on how to loose my belly and other wobbly bits by eating tailored food and changing how I excersice, I don't know if it will work as I am not a nutrisionist, doctor or gym insutructor but a normal reasonaly health mid 50's women who is fed up that she looks crap at the moment
